SaintXavierUniversity’s Brad Karp (Valparaiso) headlined the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Men’s Basketball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Karp was chosen the winner of the Capital One Academic Team Member of the Year award for the men’s basketball team out of 14 other players.

Karp, a junior biology major, carries a 3.61 grade-point average, and currently leads the Cougars in scoring (22.1) and rebounding (9.2). He ranks fourth in NAIA Division II in total scoring and is quickly closing in on his 2,000th career point. In addition, Karp has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Week seven times out of 14 weeks this season.

On Saturday, Karp was named the 2012-13 CCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.
